Kotoko need a top striker urgently - Paul Asamoah

Posted On Monday, 19th November 2012

Paul Asamoah insists Kotoko need a striker immediately

Asante Kotoko Executive Club 50 Chairman Paul Asamoah has asked the club’s scouts to search for a new striker during the January transfer window.

The attacking options of the Porcupine Warriors have not been overly impressive so far this season with goals spreading more evenly around the team.

Kofi Nti Boakye has proved to be the most reliable source of goals with Ben Acheampong, Nurudeen Ali and Seidu Bancey yet to spark for the defending League champions.

Kotoko will participate in the Caf Champions League next year and the club’s Executive Club 50 chief has told scouts to be on the look-out for potential new attacking options over the coming months to forestall disaster.

“We need a top striker in our team urgently because we have serious deficiencies upfront,” Asamoah said

“I think some of the strikers we have are not up to scratch and the earlier we admit and work towards finding a solution, the better it would be for us.

“We have a strong team but the problem has been the final third where we fail to score the goals.

“I will advise management as a matter of urgency to start looking for a new striker because I believe if we get a potent one, our troubles will be a thing of the past.”

The Executive Club 50 is a group of top businessmen who make significant financial contribution to the club.

this is exactly the case. but the real issue is, how do we get a potent striker? are they really available? i doubt how this problem will be solved but its an urgent need…

  2. Sergeant says:

Kotoko failed to sign Eric Bekoe and are now crying for a top striker??? Dr KK Sarpong should go for Emmanuel Baffour in South Africa‘s Mamelodi Sundowns. The guy is not enjoying play time though he won the goalking last season in Ghana.

do u think kotoko even has a scouting team, if they do then otumfo shld sack them all, most of them are really chaff. is this the team we sending to africa, then we shld forget it. i also blame most of the radio sports commentators, i dnt know if they r paid to render publicity services for either the players or their agents. it wont help its killing the quality of our league, watch even the kenyan league, tanzania league, zambian league compare these leagues with ours its sad, and i will even advice Gfa to suspend the live telecast of our league on DSTV , 1. very very poor coverage 2. standard very bad. even countries who feared ghana before no longer are afraid to play us e.g the CHAN competition . Kotoko need to get serious get vry good players, quality players not the monday stars players. we shld even start lookn beyond the boaders of ghana, we find vry good players for kotoko’s status a big club in africa, the respect is very necessary, it sells the club and opens up the club to execellent business deals, how can u attract high level business deals with this kinda of performance. we need to get serious, very serious

    • GH FUO, THINK BIG!!! says:

WE R NOT SERIOUS PERIOD. A CLUB LIKE KOTOKO SHOULD BE COMPETING WITH ESPERANCE, AHLY, MAZEMBE, ORLANDO PIRATES ETC IN AFRICA. IN TERS OF FACILITES, PLAYERS SIGNINGS ETC…INSTEAD LOOK. WE DONT EVEN HAVE A CLUB STADIUM. HOW MANY OUTSIDE BUSINESSES DOES KOTOKO HAVE AS A CLUB? CANT THEY BUILD A MALL. BUILD A WELL PLANNED MARKET? INVEST IN KST, SECONDARY SCHOOLS, BANKS ETC…HOW MANY NON GH PLAYERS ARE PLAYING WITH THIS CLUB? DOES KOTOKO EVEN HAVE A SCOUTING DEPT? GO OUTSIDE GH TO SEBEGAL, CAMEROOUN, ETC N FIND PLAYERS. WE DONT CARE IF THE PLAYERS ARE ALL GH OR NOT. LOOK AT MANU U, CHELSEA, ETC. HOW MANY OF THE TOP TIER PLAYERS ARE ENGLISH? LOOK AT REAL MADRID? WHAT WE CARE ABOUT R TROPHIES
