Kotoko makes $47,000 payment to Schmidt

Posted On Thursday, 26th April 2012

By Ameenu Shardow

Asante Kotoko have made payment of $47,000 to former coach Hans Dieter Schmidt, GHANAsoccernet.com can confirm.

The amount is the first of a series of payments to be made to the 66-year-old German for his wrongful dismissal in 2005.

FIFA had ruled last month that the Kumasi-based club pay a whooping 99,000 Euros in fines to Schmidt within 30-days or risk getting relegated to Ghana’s third tier competition.

It is thus believed the club and representatives of Schmidt have agreed to a payment scheme after the 30-day ultimatum expired earlier this week.

Kotoko intends making the second trench of payments which is at this point unspecified by Friday.

The Porcupine Warriors currently lead the Ghanaian top flight by fifteen points and need just a point from their next five games to secure an unprecedented 22nd league title.

It is abundantly clear that Ameenu Shardow is writing better content and grammar now. His stories are more organised now. Big up. That is what we want to read. Just read this story. Fantastic! Excellent piece! I am proud of his meteoric rise in terms of language application. Keep it up. But tell your web/comments manager to stop tracking some of us who were critical of your grammar in your amateurish days. It won’t help. Many times our criticisms are deleted or badly censored because some of your guys thought we were just making mockery of his work.
