Ghanaian champions Asante Kotoko are keen on Ghana U20 star midfielder Seidu Salifu but Tunisian giants CS Sfaxien are set to outmuscle the Porcupine out of the race.
The ‘Baby Essien’ impressed a couple of European clubs during the 2013 FIFA U20 World Cup last month in Turkey but none have made any official bid for the 19-year-old.
Tunisian side CS Sfaxien feel they have the finance clouts to purchase the versatile midfielder who can also play as a right full-back.
Ghanasoccernet.com sources can confirm the Sfax-based club will make an official bid in the coming days to sign the multi-talented midfield anchor.
However Ghana Premier League title-holders Asante Kotoko have qualified to represent Ghana in the CAF Champions League want to assemble a collection of talents at home.
The Reds have already held initial talks with All Stars officials over the youngster’s signing but the Wa-based side would weigh other foreign offers and if a higher bid is brought in, Salifu would head abroad.
Kotoko’s relationship with All Stars is in the balance after the Ghana Football Association President Kwesi Nyantakyi, who is owner of All Stars, rowed with former Kotoko Executive Board Chairman and International Relations Officier Kwame Baah Nuako over the transfer of forward Ben Acheampong.
But Nyantakyi could let things slide and sell the midfielder to Kotoko.
