Ghanaian champions Kotoko have confirmed goalkeeper Isaac Amoako will sit for six weeks with a knee injury.

The shot-stopper suffered the set-back during training last week with doctors confirming he will need up to six weeks to recuperate.

The 30-year-old will undergo a surgery to correct the problem ahead of the start of the new season.

â€œIt is an old injury that has reared its ugly face. I first had it when we played King Faisal,” he told the club’s official website

“It was treated. I even trained and I was well until late last week when it showed up again.

“I have done the necessary checks and examinations in hospital. Initially, there were fears that I could undergo surgery but the information I was given subsequently is that, I need to rest while I take my medication. That is what I am doing at the moment.”

Amoako is the club’s longest serving goalkeeper having joined the club 9 years ago where he has gone on to win titles with the Ghanaian giants.
