Kotoko foil late RTU attack to win at home

Asante Kotoko survived a late scare to beat Real Tamale United 3-2 in the Premier League game on Wednesday.

The champions needed a win to restore confidence in the side after suffering their first defeat of the campaign in the weekend’s trip to Berekum Chelsea.

Kotoko gave away a late goal and were in real danger of again dropping points against the bottom-placed side at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Goals from Richard Mpong, Prince Baffoe and Seidu Bancey however proved too strong for RTU who drew some consolation with goals from Emmanuel Kwamena and Hassan Mohammed.

The Boxing Day win now sees the Porcupine Warriors break into the top four and are now just four points adrift leaders Aduana Stars.

Kotoko next plays city rivals King Faisal before wrapping up their first round campaign away to Liberty Professionals.
