Kotoko cut sod for academy construction to begin
Asante Kotoko chairman Dr. K.K Sarpog has cut the sod for work to commence on a three-storey hostel facility for the club.
The project which is expected to be completed in September 2013 is to serve accommodation purposes for both the senior team and the youth side.
Kotoko have secured an initial US$ 100,000 from a partnership deal with DR Congo club TP Mazembe to start the construction which will cost US$ 250,000.
The Kotoko chairman in doing the symbolic sod-cutting on Saturday, says he is happy to be championing the club’s success both on and off the field of play.
“I am very happy with the commencement of this significant project for the club,” Dr. Sarpong said.
“Kotoko is now not all about winning trophies but then to also build the structures of the club.
“This project clearly falls in line with our vision of improving the infrastructure stock of the club while also working hard to achieve success on the field of play.”
Kotoko will be making a return to the CAF Champions League following their domestic league success last season.
The Porcupine Warriors are currently fourth in the Ghana Premier League but remain unbeaten after six rounds of matches.
