Nti-Boakye's goal was not enough to fetch Kotoko first win of the season
Asante Kotoko stop-gap coach Henry Wellington has blamed the referee for his side’s 2-2 draw at AshantiGold on Sunday.
The champions looked home and dry to claim their first win of the season at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi.
But the Porcupine Warriors were denied by a late Yakubu Mohammed strike who completed a brace on Sunday.
The draw now leaves Kotoko without a win after two games but coach Wellington says the referee was responsible for the disappointing result.
“The second goal (AshGold’s) for instance was an offside,” Wellington, who doubled as .
“Their player (Mohammed) was in front of my player but we’ll take it like that.”
Kotoko are now ninth on the Premier League log with just two points.
They next host Heart of Lions at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.

Coach, please, stop the noise. We could have won the game easily if you had not told the players to go to sleep anytime they score. Why must the team always redraw to play defensive anytime they score a goal? That has been the pattern during the off season. Until the team becomes hungry to slaughter opponents, we can’t excel. If we had scored from an offside position, would you have complained? Please give us a break.
Thank you Billy, thank you. This guy better shuts his beak and concentrate on the winning strategies.
