Kotoko chairman promises to sign strikers in second window

Asante Kotoko chairman Dr K.K Sarpong has promised to sign at least two top notch strikers when the transfer market reopens.

The champions appear to be lacking in the striking department in majority of their games where they have thoroughly dominated.

Kotoko’s problems upfront were vaguely manifested in their disappointing 0-0 draw against arch rivals Hearts of Oak on Sunday.

This deficiency has seen a call made by the club’s supporters for the arrival of a proven goalscorer of which the chairman will duly oblige in the second round.

“I have discussed this with the coach and it appears we have a bit of a problem with our strike force,” Dr Sarpong told Kumasi-based Angel FM.

“I therefore would like to assure the supporters that by the second round, I would have signed two more potent strikers. I believe it will make a lot more difference.

“I am working very hard at that. For those (in the team) who are not clicking will be taken out of the side to make way for the potent strikers.

“This is something that the coach, the board and management will be working on so the fans should be rest assured.”

The Porcupine Warriors have scored only six times in the seven matches played so far in the Ghanaian top flight.

They currently lie 6th ahead of their weekend trip to face Tema Youth.
