Kotoko and Burkina goalie Soulama recounts ''black day'' at AFCON

Burkina Faso goalkeeper Soulama Abdoulaye has recounted a memorable day in his career which happened at the on-going Africa Cup of Nations.

The Asante Kotoko first choice goalkeeper was red card last week in the Stallions impressive 4-0 win over Ethiopia after handling the ball outside the box.

Hours after the match in Rustenburg, he was told about the death of his father in his native country.

"I know myself and I was saying to myself that this is not the usual Soulama in the post on that day. This was even before the red card," the gloves man recalled in an interview with FOX FM.

"I felt something bad had happened even before I was sent off and it was after the match that I was told of my father’s death."

Abdoulaye will return between the sticks for Sunday's quarter-final clash against Togo.

"I am eligible to play for my country again and for now we are preparing as a team," he added.

"I think Daouda Diakite did very well against Zambia because we did not concede a goal, but we are supporting each other regardless of who plays in the next match."
