Kotoko AFCON goalkeeper Abdoulaye Soulama eyes first choice role

Burkina Faso Africa Cup of Nations goalkeeper Abdoulaye Soulama has returned to his Ghanaian club Kotoko with the aim of reclaiming his position as number one.

Soulama faces a fight to return between the sticks with Isaac Amoako now his top form at the club.

He was not included in the squad which thumped Sony Nguema 7-0 last Sunday in the CAF Champions League preliminary qualifying round first leg qualifier.

But ahead of the resumption of the Ghana Premier League this Sunday, the agile gloves man says he is ready for the competition.

"I'm back to training now and hopefully I will keep my position as number one," Soulama told Joy Sports.

"I have played about four Nations Cup and I think is a good experience for me as a player."

Soulama lost his number position at the Nations after receiving a red card in their second Group match against Ethiopia.

His replacement Daouda Diakite seized the opportunity and played a part in their second place finish.

Soulama has played in four Africa Cup of Nations finals.
