American Energy Company Symbion Energy have confirmed plans to help Asante Kotoko set up a modern football academy.
The Ghana Premier League champions have been in talks with the energy firm for some time now in their bid to secure sponsorship for their academy.
Kotoko were introduced to the American company through their partnership agreement with English club Sunderland.
Talks which also involved ex Kotoko chief executive Herbert Addo are said to be at an advanced stage and could see the implementation of a massive plan to construct an ultra modern academy for the Ghanaian giants by next year.
“The astro turf and the flood light technology we are bringing to Asante Kotoko is the latest and also the kids, apart from playing football, will be schooled in classroom and there is scholarship package for further studies in the US for brilliant students who may not progress to play football at the higher level and Symbion will pay for all expenses,” Deputy Chief Executive of Symbion William Olukoya has revealed.
“We are working with people like Herbert Mensah to push this agenda through which we hope will help young pupils realize their football dream.”
Immediate past Kotoko chief Dr. K.K Sarpong initiated talks with the American company after being directed by Sunderland.
Symbion are expected to make an announcement of a mega dollar investment for the academy once the deal is firmed up.
