Asante Kotoko's African Cup winning squad of 1983 will meet the current team ahead of their Champions League match against Sony Nguema.

The meeting to be held on Saturday is to inspire the players to deliver victory in their first leg preliminary tie on Sunday.

The Ghanaian champions are looking to build upon the impressive debut season of Berekum Chelsea in last year's edition with a flying start before an expected packed crowd at the Baba Yara Stadium.

And management reckon involving the old players who achieved continental laurels for the club is key to their success.

"It's the first time in four years Kotoko are returning to Africa and over thirty tears since we won the trophy," the club's Public and Supporters Relations Manager, Listowell Bukarson told GHANAsoccernet.com.

"All faithful of our great club have expressed their respective profound desire that we make an appreciable impact this time.

"To the extent that the 83 (African Cup) winning squad have offered to storm the teams' camp to motivate the boys ahead of the must-win tie."

Club legends such as, Ibrahim Sunday, Opoku Afriyie and last year's league winning coach, Maxwell Konadu have all offered to visit the boys to spur them on to victory on Sunday.
