Konadu's exit will crush Kotoko - goalkeeper Amoako

By Patrick Akoto

Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Isaac Amoako fears the exit of coach Maxwell Konadu will crush his ‘project’ at the club next season.

The future of the former All Stars boss has been hugely speculated after he was strongly linked with the Black Stars job

It’s widely believed the 40-year-old will be appointed as the assistant coach of the Black Stars after Kwesi Appiah sealed a two-year deal as the permanent boss of the African powerhouse.

The two worked wonders to hand the country their first ever gold medal in football at the 2011 All Africa Games in Maputo.

Coach Konadu looks set to hand Kotoko their first league title in four years after they opened a staggering 14-point lead at the summit of the table following a 2-0 win over Mighty Jets over the weekend.

But the glovesman believes the exit of their boss will affect their ambition next term.

“He (Konadu) treats us like brothers and so we’re very happy what he’s doing for us but I believe that if he leave us, we will suffer next season,” Amoako said

“He is a former player and so understands the philosophy of the team and that has played a crucial role in what we’re achieving so far in the league.

“If he’s appointed as the Black Stars assistant coach, it will affect us. We simply don’t want to lose him at this time. Not at all,”

Kotoko will need all their arsenals to make a huge impact on their return to the African Champions League next season.

the fabu players must be strong to face any difficulties becos konadu will definitely join the black stars. fabu team papapaaaaaa.

  2. Fresher says:

Coach MAXI’s impending appointment to OUR senior national team (the black stars) is not going to be easy for FABU, but folks ( fabu fans) remember Our MOTTO: Wu kum apem a mpem beba. We artfully demonstrated this MOTTO to the phobians in a sportsmanly and professional way just recently. The gap Maxi’s exit will create is big, but the gap is recoverable so long as his successor is a former FABU, a die hard FABU who possesses an unquestioned devotion to OUR dear club, there ll be no anxieties but nostalgic memories of MAXI’s leadership. Faaaaaabulous the presenters. Faaaaaabulous, Wu kum apem a mpem beba.

Kotoko-Kum apem a apem beba.

  4. Terror says:

Do not worry my fabulous faithful. The management has gotten everything under control. Maxwell will only leave after the last league match. Then the team will be taken over by Michael Osei, a former midfield supremo for Fabu and Black Stars. He is now doing wonders for New Edubiase. He will have ample time, just like Maxwell to prepare the team for the coming season, so there should be no fears. Michael also has a EUFA Licence B Coaching Certificate, and Management will surely organize an attachement to an European club for him before the season starts. Besides, the rest of the technical staff will be intact to guide Michael Osei when he comes in. Please be calm, we are in control.

  10. forestine says:

i believe that maxwell konadu have to stay at kotoko. he has become a priceless asset for asante kotoko at the moment. if we want to win the african champions league then we have to maintain him. he is building a formidable squad at the moment and needs enough time to do that, if only we want to conquer Africa….I strongly agree with gorge amoako…do we recall that atuquayefio spent some years in hearts before they could lift the african champions league and the super cup…we have been crying for champions league trophy for over 25 years now….we need and have to maintain maxwell konadu or forget about winning trophies if another coach is appointed as kotoko coach..God has given unto kotoko maxwell konadu let us maintain him forever otherwise we will seriously regret for not keeping him…a word to a wise is enough.

  11. Kwadwo Addai says:

I am in a delimma either Maxi shd stay or go.
