Konadu admits Leroy's Ghana knowledge is AFCON worry

Maxwell Konadu has admitted that DR Congo could cause problems for Ghana at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations because of their coach’s insider knowledge of the Black Stars.

The Ghana assistant coach observed Frenchman Claude Leroy when he was coach of the Black Stars from 2006 to 2008.

Now the two teams have been placed together in Group B, along with Niger and Mali, for the tournament in South Africa.

And LeRoy, who led Ghana from 2006-2008, believes his knowledge of the Black Stars might have them worried as they will clash in the group’s opening game.

Konadu says LeRoy will try to use his experience as a former coach of Ghana to gain an edge when the sides meet in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

“I was with Leroy when he was coach of Ghana, and he knows us very, very well,” Konadu told BBC Sport.

“I think it is going to be an interesting game. We will have to prepare for him. It will be nice to meet him again and to play against your former coach.

“We need to work very very hard, because he knows our team and the quality we have and he will prepare well – we have to do the same to beat him.”

Ghana will play DR Congo before facing Mali and Niger in the group.

Leroy knows Ghana’s weakness and Ghana knows Leroy’s weakness so it is a moot point let’s get to work. It is time to separate the chaff from the wheat and get us some talented players. We are going to beat DR Congo. If Leroy is that good he will not be toiling in Africa, he will be plying his trade in the great stadiums of Europe. Forget this guy and bring the cup home already!

Konadu can u tell your boss to called abeyie…u and your boss are former footballers and i know u have an idea how it feels to represent your country and how is also feels to be neglected by your country!! Please can u plead with appiah to called quincy for this afcon as is going to be his last and remember the stone rejected could be the real cornerstone!!! Ghana beat nigeria during the afcon because of quincy… he gave essien the perfect cross to equaliser for us and in my opinion,he is now the most matured ghanaian player internationally and this is the time his services will be needed!! If we really want to break the 30 yrs jinx, we need this guy!!! He could be the missing link!!!

  5. selfmade says:

Checked this out…. ghana has struggled because of a viable playermaker…. now we can shift dede into the midfield as the attacking offensive midfielder and a playermaker because for me dede is a combative midfielder than a winger and he also has the ability to hold the ball, dribble and can tackle good without acting a card!! This is what ghana needs right now… dede can be the missing link between our attack, midfield and the defence… now we have so many option in terms of our wings ….. quincy should be deployed to the right,k asa to the left where i think he can perform better and then later on,introduced atsu either as a holder midfielder cum a playermaker and then shift dede to the left or atsu to the left replacing asa!!! Ghana won so many titles in the past because of better wingers coupled with mercurial playermakers ie razak, polo, abedi etc and i sense we can win this touranment because we have so many quality wingers now but the problem is mercurial playmaker to complete the puzzle and dede or atsu can be used! !!!! Viva the revolutioncion!!!!!

Honestly, these two clowns need to shut up. Leroy’s knowledge of some of the Black Stars players don’t mean anything, that was several years ago when he coached the BS. Most of his players do not play for the Stars anymore, so give me a break with these idiotic comments.

If the Black Stars do not do well at AFCON or get beaten by Leroy’s team, it will not be for the fact that Leroy coached the BStars before but more so to do with our incompetent coach Akwesi Appiah.
