Know more about the FIVE coaches shortlisted for the Black Stars job
Avram Grant

Name: Avram Grant

Age: 59

Current job: Technical director BEC Tero Sasana (Thailand)

Grant has spent the majority of his career coaching and managing in Israel. He moved to England in 2006 to become Technical Director of Portsmouth before being appointed Director of football at Chelsea in July 2007.

Two months later, in September 2007, following the departure of José Mourinho, Grant was appointed manager of Chelsea. Despite steering the team into the Champions League final, the League Cup final and contesting the Premier League title to the last day, his contract was terminated at the end of the season.

Grant returned to Portsmouth as Director of football in October 2009, and was made manager the following month. He resigned and, on 3 June 2010, was appointed as manager of West Ham United a role he held up until 15 May 2011, when he was sacked after the club was relegated to the Football League Championship.

On 13 January 2012, Avram Grant was named the new manager of Partizan Belgrade. After guiding Partizan to their fifth consecutive Serbian championship, Grant resigned on 14 May 2012.

VERDICT: He has a good man management style but not the kind of tactical genius of a coach. It was evident during his spell at Portsmouth and West Ham United.

Patrick Kluivert
Patrick Kluivert
Name: Patrick Kluivert

Age: 38

Current job: Unattached

In August 2012, Kluivert joined the Netherlands national team coaching staff to work under head coach Louis van Gaal as the Dutch national team chalked a third-place finish in the 2014 FIFA World Cup campaign.

He played as a striker for Ajax, Milan, FC Barcelona, Newcastle United, Valencia, PSV Eindhoven, and Lille.

Kluivert played for the Dutch national team from 1994 to 2004, and with 40 goals from 79 appearances was their highest goalscorer until surpassed by in 2013.

From August 2010 on, he was an assistant-coach for N.E.C. coaching the strikers.

In the 2011–12 season, he moved on and took charge of the FC Twente youth and reserve team.

VERDICT: He had a glittering career as a football but yet to cut his teeth as a coach and lacks the experience to lead the Black Stars. His pedigree and stature in world football might give the national team a new look but that will not be enough.
