Ghana midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng got his Schalke career to a flying start by helping the side secure a 2-0 win over Bayern Leverkusen.

The 26-year-old made an emotional home debut for the Royal Blues just 24 hours after completing a shocking move from AC Milan.

The Ghana international was hailed throughout his time on the before being replaced by Christian Clemence in the 84th minute.

Boateng was heavily involved in all the critical moves of Jen Keller’s side much to the admiration of the home fans with the goals coming from Marco Hogan and Jefferson Farfan in the 30th and 83rd minute respectively.

The former Tottenham Hotspurs and Portsmouth player only completed his return to Germany on Friday after passing a medical at Gelsenkirchen.

He will travel to Ghana where he will be rejoining the Black Stars after rescinding his international retirement after two years for the deciding 2014 World Cup qualifier against Zambia.
