Ghana midfielder Kevin Prince Boateng has rejected the speculation that he was not happy playing with the Black Stars - leading to his decision to quit the national team.
The Germany-born player says he was immediately made to feel like a member of the family when he joined the Black Stars.
Boateng, who was born to a Ghanaian father and a German mother, switched nationality to play for Ghana at the 2010 World Cup and visited the country for the first time after the tournament in South Africa.
But he retired from the national team nine months later citing health reasons for his decision to quit the Black Stars.
In the wake of his decision to retire from Ghana duties various meanings were read into it with some speculating that he was not happy with the team.
But Boateng has rejected that thought by saying that the hospitality he experienced with the Black Stars made him feel wanted in the squad.
"I went there (Ghana) for the first time in 2010, to play in the national team. The memorable hospitality made me feel immediately one of them," Boateng said.
The Ghanaian football authorities are trying to convince Boateng to return to the national team.
