Schalke coach Jens Keller is heaving a massive sigh of relief with news Kevin-Prince Boatengââ¬â¢s latest injury is not related with his persistent knee problems.
The Ghana international has instead been diagnosed with a calf injury.
Boateng missed Saturdayââ¬â¢s goalless draw at Nuremberg haven picked up an injury on Schalkeââ¬â¢s final training session.
The ex AC Milan star has been limited to just 12 top flight appearances for Schalke this term â⬓ owing his absence to a recurring knee problem.
His latest injury sparked fears he had aggravated his chronic knee injury and could stay on the sidelines for a longer period.
The Ghana forward has however been cleared to make a quicker return after scans reveal he suffered a calf injury.
Boateng is now likely to return to first team action when the Bundesliga resumes after the winter break on January 26 where Schalke will travel to face Hamburg.
