Ghana international midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng had to take an early shower after receiving a red card in Schalke 04's 2-2 stalemate with Eintracht Frankfurt in the German Bundesliga on Saturday afternoon.

The 27-year-old was twice booked at the Veltins Arena (either halves) as Schalke were reduced to ten men in the 61st minute, his marching off before Julien Draxler also received a straight red card ten minutes later.

Boateng declared himself fit and was started by manager Jens Keller following his commanding performance for the Royal Blues against Chelsea in the Uefa Champions League.

He picked a booking in the 25th minute following his challenge on Frankfurt midfielder before 'unnecessarily' applying a tackle on a midfielder just after the hour mark to claim his second booking.

The sending off means Boateng will miss two successive games for Schalke in the Bundesliga.

Saturday afternoon's red care is Boateng's ninth league sending off.
