Ken August blasts Lions over sack claims

Coach Ken August has launched an astonishing attack on Hearts of Lions over his reported dismissal.

The experienced trainer was made to pay the price for club’s disastrous campaign which saw them escape relegation by the whisker.

The former Great Olympics coach claims he was unaware of his dismissal from the club and acted angrily to the reports.

“My contract with Lions ended at the season, so how can people say I have been sacked,” August told Accra-based Happy FM

“I don’t see why officials of the club will choose to inform the media about their decision rather than talking to me.

“Was I appointed by the media? This is a calculated attempt to destroy me but it won’t wash.

“If they don’t want me, so be it. But I am not happy with the way the issue was handled.

“They can’t sack me because I don’t have any contract with them,”

August was heavily criticized by the club’s supporters for their downward spiral last term and a reported frosty relationship with owner Victor Ahiakpor is what is believed to have broken the camels back.

Lions finished the season on a disappointing 12th position on the table and will need to quickly reorganize themselves ahead of next season.

August replaced Paa Kwesi Fabian following his appointment as the national Under-17 coach.
