Ken Agyapong: It pays to speak in temperate language

Posted On Sunday, 22nd April 2012

General News of Sunday, 22 April 2012Source: citifmonline The Assin North Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong, has insisted he will not relent in telling the truth despite being detained for three nights at the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) over his inciting comments.

He has been charged with treason felony, attempted genocide and terrorism and on a Gh¢400, 000 bail.

Speaking after a triumphant entry into his constituency for the first time since his detention, the embattled New Patriotic Party (NPP) legislator said he will not be intimidated by the charges, but admonished the youth to refrain from the use of provocative languages.

“There is no need to use any intemperate language whenever you are speaking to anyone – an adult or a child. It is more profitable to speak in decent language when communicating,” Hon. Agyapong told the teeming crowd.

He was mobbed by hundreds of NPP supporters, who virtually brought business in the Assin Fosu Township to a halt.

Throughout his address, Hon. Agyapong kept hammering on the need for his followers and Ghanaians in general to adhere to the use of temperate language in order to maintain the enviable peace Ghana is currently enjoying.

He urged the youth not to use him as a decoy to cause confusion in Ghana ahead of the December elections.

“What I saw at the court proves that Ghanaians love me. I’m admonishing you today not to use me as a tool to engage in any violent act. The battle is the Lord’s and He has done it already for us.”

The lawmaker once again used the occasion to express his gratitude to the Ghana Police Service, the Judiciary and religious leaders for their professional conduct throughout his ordeal.**
