Swedish youth international Joseph Baffo has declared his intentions of abandoning his Swedish dreams to play for Ghana.

The 22-year-old versatile defender, who was born in Accra, is currently a member of the Swedish U21 squad and is set to be handed a call-up by the European country.

Baffo, who won the Swedish Premier League title with Helsingborg IF as a 19-year-old, has declared he wants to play for the West African giants.

"Ghana is my country and I love the country and their kind of football. I hope to play for them in the coming years," he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

Baffo, who can play across different positions in defence, completed 25 games out of 27 starts for Halmstad BK in the Swedish top-flight and he feels his qualities are enough to earn him a place in the squad.

"Ghana has a lot of top players in Europe and it is clear I've to work harder to be able to draw attention of the coach who has a lot of experience with big players," he added.

Ghana is currently working to switch the nationality of Feyenoord attacker Elvis Manu who is capped at youth level for the Netherlands.
