Ghana striker Jordan Ayew won and converted a spot-kick in the Ligue 1 on Saturday night but his side Lorient were beaten 2-1 by Caen on the road.

The hosts shot ahead through Lenny Nangis on three minutes by heading in Hervé Bazile’s ball in from the left-hand side.

The equaliser, then, came somewhat against the run of play.

Yrondu Musavu-King tugged Ayew's shirt in the box and referee Frank Schneider had little hesitation in pointing to the spot.

Ayew dusted himself down and converted his second goal of the season in the 24th minute.

Caen sealed the win in the 53rd minute when Mathieu Duhamel stepped up to converted another penalty after Gassama handled Bazile’s ball inside the box.

Lorient are two places above the relegation zone with better goal difference.
