Jordan Ayew on target again for Marseille in Europa League

Jordan Ayew celebrates his doubler for Marseille

Ghana attacker Jordan Ayew scored his second goal in five days for Olympique Marseille as they drew 2-2 with Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Europa League on Thursday.

The 21-year-old steered Marseille ahead 2-1 in the 67th minute after Joel Barton had restored parity for Les Olympians 13 minutes earlier.

Jordan cut through the Germans defence from the left before making space with a fluent step-over and firing a fierce shot high into the net.

Elie Baup’s side however failed to protect their lead as Juan Arango Sáenz snatched an injury-time goal for the Bundesliga side.

Jordan’s elder brother Andre Ayew played full throttle for Marseille.

This is a great striker. its rather unfortunate our coach does not know how to place him and also the tactics of this coach does not make us see the best of our players

  2. Nii Kwatei says:

I don’t understand why Ghanaians cherish so much hate and scepsis towards this bloke. He’s pure class! He might be a rough diamond still, but i feel he could be the revelation for AFCON 2013. Just like we gave Ayew a chance 2 years ago, doesn’t he now deserve a starting place?

  3. Chale' 1 says:

Great point Nii. Its about time the coach and Ghana gave this guys their full support.

Instability causes uncertainty which in turn causes self doubt and hence below-par performances. The coach needs to give him more playing time to establish himself in the team. Right now its difficult for him to settle because he is not used consistently by Ghana.

  4. ck says:

i ttaly agre wit u guys. Jordan, yiadom n waris ar gud 4 b’stars.

  5. Great says:

Jordan has shown that he is from football power house. He deserves starting role in gbs. A A shd use him @ d right position!

  6. Maxwell Johnson says:

Jordan has improved tremendously this season, I’ve been watching OM games in the Ligue 1 as well as the Europa League and I can tell you that the chap has really improved a lot, he is playing much better than Dede and the good thing is that he is scoring. 6 goals in 18 appearance its not bad at all for a young striker like him, he is surely a candidate for the 2013 AFCON. I just hope that A.A will be bold enough to give you all the young players chance to impress, am talking about Warris, RBY & and Jordan. Kwame Amponsah Karikari should also be considered, these players including some few other ones are the future of GH football.

  7. keith from germany says:

maxwell johnson u damn right.this dude has realy improved.
coach AA has not used him in the righ positions he derserves to play.
he has been very consistent n constant in his performances for OL this season.
it seems ghanaians are to quick in judging.we forget that this chap is only 21 years n he has got alot to improve.
AA has to be bold n give the boy the confidence he needs becuz AA is not trying his best to put confidence in this boy.
i realy liked his performance at the afcon 2012.anytime he came in the game he looked very sharp.
i respect the job AA IS DOING BUT im not satisfied with the way he is handling jordan ayew.
these boy is very wise in staying with marseille becuz he is not afraid of competitions becuz he believes staying with will only make him a better player.
forumites like GH FUO THINK BIG ARE ALWAYS discouraging this dude.its a matter of time till they realize that they are wrong.no offence.
