Olympique Marseille striker Jordan Ayew has described Wednesday night’s 1-0 home defeat to Olympiacos in the Uefa Champions League as “a big opportunity missed”.
The 19-year-old was replaced after 61 minutes in the side which under-performed in front of their home fans.
A win could have sent Didier Deschamps’ side through to the last 16 stage but must now defeat Borussia Dortmund next month to advance.
“We have missed a big opportunity because even a draw would have virtually taken us through,” Ayew said.
The teenager who has had more playing time this season and impressed admits their qualification is in jeopardy.
“Borussia Dortmund lost to Arsenal so now it’s going to be very tense because Olympiacos have six points and everyone has a chance to qualify. We are going to have to go to Dortmund and win,” he said.
“I honestly don’t know why we underperformed. I felt like everything was going well. There’s a great atmosphere in the team, everyone laughs and gets on well together.
“We all really wanted to get three points after losing at Montpellier. But we didn’t do the business.
“Now we have to pick ourselves up for Sunday because that’s not going to be easy game.”
Good luck on that fateful sunday. My you win
Its high time you start delivering.Your goal scoring rate as a striker is very low. Such opportunities in a big club like Marseille do come rarely. Grab it with both hand before its too late.
ALL THE LUCK TO MARSEILLE….ALLEZ L’OM..MAY ALLAH HEAR YOUR PRAYERS!
Jordan, increase your workrate a bit as your brother is doing.Good luck to you and Dede.
