Jordan Ayew: Ghana striker says he left Marseille because he wanted to develop
Jordan Ayew has talked about why he left Marseille for Lorient

Ghana forward Jordan Ayew has revealed his reasons for leaving French Ligue 1 giants Olympique Marseille to join modest Lorient.

The 23-year-old quit Marseille before the start of the 2014/15 season to join and has notched 9 goals in 23 games for the struggling Lorient side.

Jordan scored the consolation goal for Marseille in their 3-1 reverse against giants Paris Saint-Germain on Friday night.

His strike against PSG which came on the back of a fine display against Caen takes his total season goal contribution to 14 goals in 23 games.

Jordan, whose elder brother Andre Ayew is heading out of Marseille, has revealed why he left the Stade Velodrome.

“Football, it is not easy, either in Marseille or here in Lorient. Here at Lorient I am having more confidence. There are good workouts, we can work calmly. It’s a totally different life. You play once a week, you can spend more time with your family. It changed many things in me” Ayew told L’Equipe after the defeat to PSG

“When your children are watching you on TV, you’re not going to do anything which will make them not happy. I have become more matured. This is also why I left Marseille. The image at Marseille was not what i deserved”.
