Black Stars defender Jonathan Mensah has been recounting how the country's Under-20 team helped shaped his compatriots to launch their careers.

The former Ashantigold strong centre got his career off to a flier after a breakthrough with the Black Satellites six years ago.

He has since gone on to become one of the leading players in the national team, playing in two World Cups and four Nations Cup tournaments.

The 25-year-old has been reminiscing his humble beginning to stardom

He tweeted: The Ghana U20 team helped launch our careers! Here with the team in The Gambia #BlackSatellites #AYC2015

He played alongside Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, Rabiu Mohammed, Andre Ayew and Samuel Inkoom.
