John Pantsil will miss Saturday's third-place match against Mali due to injury

Ghana defender John Pantsil has been ruled out of Saturday’s Africa Cup of Nations third-place match against Mali. 

The experienced right-back failed to recover from a muscle pull he suffered during the semi-final clash against Burkina Faso in Nelspruit on Wednesday.

He missed Friday’s training session at the Nelson Mandela Municipal University in Summerstrand, Port Elizabeth.

The Hapoel Tel Aviv ace was chasing his 89th international cap.

Pantsil equalled Abedi Pele’s record of five Nations Cup appearances by playing in the 2013 finals in South Africa.
