Ghana defender John Pantsil believes the South African Premier Soccer League will be among the top 10 Leagues in the World.

The 33-year-old, who has recently signed for top-flight side Maritzburg United, has predicted the PSL will be a major force to reckon with in the near future.

"Five years ago I said to myself if I get the opportunity to play in the PSL I will grab it," he told PSL.co.za.

"I've always followed the league and it's well covered across Africa.

"I've always said to my people that this league, in time, will be one of the top 10 in the world. The football is quick and they play a fast game.

"After 2013 Africa Cup of Nations I wanted to come here," he recalls. "I had to start somewhere because it was my first time playing here, so that's why I started in the NFD.”

Pantsil is expected to battle it out with more youthful players for the right-back position.
