John Mensah signs six-month deal with Stade Rennes

Posted On Wednesday, 2nd January 2013

John Mensah has joined Stade Rennes on a six-month deal

Ghana defender John Mensah has signed a six-month deal with Stade Rennes, the French outfit confirmed on Wednesday.

The 30-year-old, who is a free agent, returns to a club where he played 76 games in three seasons from 2006 to 2008.

The Ghanaian defender has been training with Rennes since November and was widely rumoured he was considering signing a long-term deal with the club.

The French outfit confirmed on Wednesday, they’ve reached an agreement with the former Sunderland man for an initial six-month deal before deciding on his long term future.

Mensah is expected to be a direct replacement for compatriot for John Boye who will be away on international duty with the Black Stars at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.

His clublessness cost him a place in the Black Stars squad for the Nations Cup despite playing 82 times for the West African giants.

Rennes no b serious. how can Jonh mensah be a replacement for Boye when even a toddler knows he will only play one game then injury. Capito please go and get some arab money b4 too late.

  2. Union Leader says:

You are more serious and knows better than Rennes I figured @ Kantoose. You people will say anything that comes to mind without thinking it through. He’s got a 6 month deal,we should be happy for him and pray that he stays injury free instead of hating for no reason. A Healthy John Mensah is a real asset to the Black Stars, besides Rennes ain’t no fools. Next time think before you comment @kantoose.

  3. Gyasi says:

@ union leader, explicable and reasonable comment, thumbs up.

  4. GH FUO, THINK BIG!!! says:

I WISH HIM THE ULTIMATE BEST. I THIK HE SHOULD GO TO THE MLS, SAUDI ARABIA, JAPAN LEAGUE OR KOREN LEAGUE FOR HIS RETIREMENT BREAD

  5. Watchdog says:

Union Leader you couldn’t have taught this unwise guy better. The problem here is that some people have got so much ego they always want to say something whether it makes sense or not. Unfortunately, these are the people who make a lot of noise here. They comment on everything just to make sure they see their prints here. Not only that they also think they know the best coaching methods in the world and as such think they can force their farcical and strange ideas on the coaches and players. What they don’t realise is that their utterances and constant criticisms are causing more harm to the team. As somebody rightly pointed out they are just ego trippers and should be derided any time they embark on their ego trips. What

  6. ike says:
