Joetex Frimpong owns a Football Academy in Nigeria

Ex-Ghana striker Joetex Frimpong has set up a Football Academy based in Minna, Nigeria to help youngsters in the locality to begin a career.

The former FC Lucerne player has turned in football administration since hanging up his boots due to recurring injuries.

He runs the Frimpong Academy in partnership with top Swiss Sports Agency, 4Sports & Entertainment AG.

After close to a year, two of its players are being considered by Nigerian Premier League giants Enyimba FC.

Daniel Frimpong, an attacker, who is Joetex’s younger brother, and defensive midfielder Sadick Abdulrazak are inching closer to a deal.

The duo has impressed the Enyimba technical team after arriving in the first week of December.

‘It’s a good development that these young lads are training with a great African team like Enyimba. I hope they make the grade at Enyimba,” Joetex said to SuperSport.com.

In October this year, he took charge of the coaching duties with the Under-12 team of Young Boys.

  2. REALITY says:

You can even open hundreds of such projects in Nigeria still the majority of them will wish Ghana’s down fall in football.Keshie has clearly and openly wished us out of the AFCON before it even starts. It will be better for to do your projects in Togo Benin and other countries than what you are doing now.It is a good thing but i think you are waisting your time. They might even beat you up there should you dare openly supporting Ghana when we are playing.

    reality hahaha lol :) :)

  4. Sam says:

Has anybody asked him why he is doing this? Are there not needy people in his hometown? Is he okay?
I don’t have anything against whatever he spends his money on, but Nigeria now is not safe, big companies are moving out.
Somebody should advise Frimpong to wait for a while or rather invest in Ghana first then he can go back to Naija if safety and security improves.

  7. Abrantie-In Da House says:

Why are you guys so much of hate? There are a lot of nigerians investing in Ghana, so what the fuse when a ghanaian also invest in nigeria? Joetex for one played most of his soccer in Nigeria b4 moving to europe. He is just giving back to the community he grew up in..My Gosh, please please all you haters should find something better doing!! Its his money and his choice. Why don’t you just wish him well and let him do his thing?
When Abadeyor comes to Ghana and invest, we become happy, but when a ghaian invest somewhere else, then you will see ghanaians fuming as if the person was using their personal money to do that. Leave Joetex alone to help his community. Thats where he grew up oooooooo, so leave him alone!!

  8. He-goat says:

I have lived in Nigeria long before you were born there. But my identity is still Ghanaian. No matter what you do they would not love you. A Nigerian befriends you only to “gain” from you. With Boko Haram throwing bombs left right and centre, my dear Frimpong think twice. Many Nigerians are looking for ways to go to Ghana. Ghana is the destination. Your propject is good bu the environment is not good at all. Yes you make your mark in Nigeria so you want to genuinely give back but not this critical time. Yes you can still help those talented boys in Minna by bring them to your academy in Ghana. In fact they would be happ and thankful because they would be able to showcase their talent in a serene and peaceful environment. The lat but not the leat. You yourself you know that anything with Ghanaian stamp is a hot cake worldwide. Why did you not play for Nigeria like the Leotis Boatengs, Joh Bensons etc. GHANA IT IS.

  9. Fred Bortey Kyeremeh says:

I do not understand and agree with all those who are asking the rationale behind setting up the academy in Nigeria because he is a Ghanaian. I believe he is proud being a Ghanaian but the fact still remains that he has benefited from Nigeria more than Ghana. He made his name on Nigerian soil and not Ghana. He was given the opportunity to a good career in Nigeria and not Ghana. He earned his livelihood in Nigeria and not Ghana. He benefited beyond measure from Nigeria and not Ghana and as such it is right for him to give back to the society where he earned his daily bread. I do not see anything wrong in his decision to reward the very society where he was received with open arms and treated as one of their very own though he isn’t. What would we say of the numerous foreigners who have established soccer academies in Ghana? If they had thought the same way would we as Ghanaians have benefited from those investments made in our homeland? Joetex has remembrance by not forgetting about the golden spoon that fed him. I think we should rather be asking and encouraging those Ghanaians who have benefited from Ghana as players who have done nothing for the societies where they hailed from to do something worthy for the local folks rather than being negative about this young man’s generous act to Nigeria. Why didn’t we as Ghanaians ask Emml Adebayor to go and do those charity projects in his homeland,Togo who needed similar facilities more than our brethren in the Upper West Region of Ghana? Let us not be selfish here, what is good for us is equally good for our brothers elsewhere.God bless GH

the truth is naija is not save. Minna is the capital of niger state where st. Theresa church was bomb, in april INEC office was bomb in this same state, in june they bomb a church and killed 4 police men, the first bomb factory was dscovrd in suleja in the same state. Niger state is the 4th hate in the country! We Ghanaians here are planing our home coming: going by what the southeners are saying it takes only God to keep nigeria beyon 2015. infact he got it wrong!!

  11. Pls ghanians i dont like d way u insult nigeria in ur soccer site dont forget that we use to field u before we give u electricity to enjoy

  12. He-goat says:

Goat Tunji. If u do not know Ghanaians taught how to eat bread. Shut up and ask your leaders to do the right thing. Electricity my foot. Do you know when Ghana started producing electricity and also refining oil. Shut up again. The days you guys do cheat Ghanaians are over. Even we taught you to shave your armpits and your women pubic hairs.

  13. Ghanians dont forget that in d seventies majority of u are in nigeria because u dont have food to chop about bokoharam u are not save it can affect u too dont embarass nigeria we are still african giants dont bite d fingers that feed u respect nigeria if keshi condemn u keshi is an ordinary h beign ur country is not even up to sum of d states in nigeria or u want us to come and bomb ghana

  14. selim says:

wonder why not in Ghana but the country that has for centeries wished for our downfall with the little we’ve got. Well, it will still change nothing. Evytin happens 4 a reason. Frimpong certainly has a reason. We Are Ghana!

  15. eric junior says:
