Ghanaian striker Joetex Frimpong has ended his two-year hiatus by signing for Swiss side FC Zurich.
The 30-year-old signed a six-month contract on Wednesday to end his injury-induced exile.
Frimpong has been unattached since ending his contract with rival Swiss side FC Lucern two years ago.
The striker got a lifeline when his former coach at Lucerne, Rolf Fringer, arrived at FC Zurich.
Fringer invited the striker to train with the team to regain his fitness but after impressing in trial matches, Frimpong has been handed a short contract.
He will wear the No. 25 as the new season in Switzerland starts on Sunday.
”I’m happy to return to football with FC Zurich. The club and manager convinced me to play here,” Frimpong said.
”It’s a six-month deal, but I’ve been assured of something better in the days ahead. ”
Before his Swiss adventure started at Young Boys in 2008, the forward played for Al-Nassr in Saudi-Arabia and Club Sportive Sfaxien in Tunisia.
Frimpong, who is one of the few Africans to play in three finals of the Caf Champions League with two clubs was a member of Ghana’s squad during the 2006 Afcon, in Egypt.
