JJ's Message Will Be A Reawakening One - Kofi Adams

Posted On Sunday, 3rd June 2012

Preparations are underway for the commemoration of the 33rd anniversary of the June 4 uprising in Afloa in the Volta region. The ceremony sparked some controversy this week when some chiefs of the area decided to ban the celebration in the area for the fear of losing out on development.

They however rescinded their decision and said they won?t partake in the celebration. Former President Rawlings and his wife are expected to address the gathering at the event in a few hours from now.

XYZ News? Volta regional correspondent, Emmanuel Atukpa, reports that the venue is almost ready for the celebration to commence.

The spokesperson of the former first couple, Kofi Adams, told XYZ News, he is happy to see a number of cadres of the revolutionary days who are there to mark the day with the former first couple. According to him, this indicates that the programme will be a success.

He expressed his belief that by the time the programme starts, people who have gone to church will be returning to listen to the former first couple.

He said the former President Rawlings will not deviate from his recent criticism of the government over what he believes is the derailment of the values and ideals of the June 4 revolution.

Mr. Adams said Mr. Rawlings ?will continue to hammer on the ideals of June 4 revolution,? adding ?his message will be more of reawakening.?

He said the earlier decision by some of the chiefs to ban the celebration has backfired because of the defiance of the people of Aflao.
