Germany’s Jerome Boateng became the second player of Ghanaian extraction to win the FIFA World Cup.

Marcel Desailly, born in Ghana, was the first to lift the coveted trophy in world football with another country with France in 1998 as hosts.

Jerome was born in Berlin to a Ghanaian father and a German mother.

Boateng has presented Germany at U-17, U-19 and U-21 level, winning the 2009 European U-21 Championship.

His half-brother Kevin Prince Boateng played for Ghana at the World Cup but was sent home prior to their final Group match against Portugal for insulting head coach Kwesi Appiah in the full glare of other players.
