Veteran trainer JE Sarpong has backed calls for the immediate recall of Laryea Kingston into the Black Stars ahead of the 2013 African Cup of Nations.
The 32-year-old was the star of the show as he turned in an exciting performance for Hearts in their Super Clash against rivals Asante Kotoko on Sunday.
The impressive performance of the former Vitesse and Heart of Midlothian man at the Baba Yara stadium has sparked talk of his return to the international stage and the veteran trainer believes itââ¬â¢s long overdue.
ââ¬ÅWe have to face fact and accept that Kingston deserves to be in the Black Stars,â⬠Sarpong told Accra-based Happy FM
ââ¬ÅThere is no time for experimentation at the Nations Cup. We need experienced players like Laryea to help us realize our dream.
ââ¬ÅThere are players who are warming benches and yet get call-up into the team. Laryea has been there before and so the terrain will not be new for him.
ââ¬ÅI donââ¬â¢t see why a player of his caliber and the kind of performances that he put up last season and what he did against Kotoko shouldnââ¬â¢t earn him a call-up.
ââ¬ÅI simply do not see it.ââ¬
Kingston has not been involved with the Ghana national since he was dropped from the final 2010 World Cup squad.
But he has never hidden his desire to play for the West African giants once again.
