The Ivory Coast government has approved a $5.4m budget solely for the World Cup in Brazil which includes $104,000 appearance fees for each player in the 23-man squad.

The budget for the Elephants’ campaign at the 2014 World Cup DOES NOT include the amount of money to be spent during three-week preparation for the tournament.

Eventual bonuses for Round of 16 have been pegged at $35 000 for each player; Quarterfinals – $42 000; Semifinals – $69 000 and Final – $135 000.

However, it is not clear if the players will receive any bonuses for the group stage of the competition which would further increase the amount of the budget.

But it includes bonuses for the Elephants’ qualification to the World Cup which is $4,200 per match per player for eight matches played, totalling $1.2m, to be paid before the beginning of the competition.

Even the two Ivorian referees selected by FIFA to officiate at the World Cup also have their share in the budget.

This means Ivorian players will be earning over $19,000 more than their Ghanaian counterparts in appearance fees for June’s tournament in Brazil.

This could spark the Black Stars agitation for more on their appearance fees after the Ivorian budget revealed that they are paying more than Ghana.

This details were contained in a release from the Ivorian government which approved 2.5 billion CFA francs ($5.4m) for their team’s participation at the World Cup.

The amount will cover match bonuses, transport, hotel bills for a 65-man delegation, including players and officials of the football federation and the ministry of sports.

The appearance fee for the tournament itself was pegged at $104 000, totalling $2.4m, to be paid after the publication of the list of 23 players – the same as what was paid for the 2006 and 2010 editions.

The two Ivorian referees selected by FIFA to officiate at the World Cup also have their share in the budget, with $32 000 going to the centre referee (Doue Noumandiez Desire ) and $21 000 for the assistant referee (Yeo Songuifolo).

Ivory Coast have been drawn in Group C at the World Cup where they will be facing Colombia, Japan and Greece.

And so what? Why this comparison ?

Please do not create any confusion. Then you must also publish what the appearance fees are for the remaining Africa countries. Then, we can see if Ghana is cheating on the players, or not. I hope that is not what your article is meant to portray.

      I don’t think you understand.

First of all the Average Ivoran player takes home $4300 for each match won during qualification. Ghana takes 15,000.
      15,000 X 8 = 120,0000
      4300 X 8 = 34,000

      Ghana’s appearance fee is 75,000

      Ivory Coast 100,000

So if we do the Maths… Ghana from qualifiers to appearance is sitting on 195,000

While Ivory Coast is on 134,000….

So the Ghanaian is starting the Tournament 60,000 dollars richer…

Now Ghana’s current winning bonus for the world cup is 15,000 per match so if all 3 matches are won then by the Round of sixteen the total amount would be 45,000. Ivory Coast bonus for the that round is 35,000.

Added to that after the 2010 world cup each player received an extra bonus of 63,000…
