Ghana’s top midfielder and former Chelsea powerful player Michael Essien will be parting with Italian giants AC Milan this upcoming January transfer window, a newspaper in Italy has reported.

Based on Italian newspaper, Tuttospot, the Ghanaian will be axed by the AC Milan coaching crew for failing to live up to expectation since joining the club.

It is said that Essien has not performed to the expectations of the club since his arrival from Chelsea FC and thus Milan is ready to let him go.

Reports have been circulating that Essien might be joining Major League Soccer as soon as the transfer window opens. Milan is willing to offload the experienced midfield before the ending of his contract, on a free transfer.

Milan refuses to pay the hefty wage for Essien who is under-performing and is prepared to cut their losses. Essien earns €3 million per season playing at San Siro. Since Essiens transfer from Chelsea he has made 12 appearances for Milan.

Regardless of how Milan feels about Essien, the Ghanian has a lot of respect for Milan and their management. Essien admires Filippo Inzaghi as a tremendous coach and recently compared him to Real Madrid’s manager Carlo Ancelotti.
