Ghana goalkeeper Isaac Amoako claims he has lost 13 medals – including the one he won at the CHAN tournament – when his apartment was gutted by fire on Wednesday.

The Asante Kotoko shot-stopper only returned from international duty where he was part of the Black Stars squad that emerged runners up in the CHAN tournament held in South Africa.

Amoako dropped one of his bags containing his CHAN silver medal in his two-bedroom apartment on his return to Kumasi on Wednesday.

He however returned a few hours later to see the complete destruction of his apartment by fire.

The 30-year-old now reveals the loss of 13 medals amongst a host of vital materials and money lost in the fire.

“All the thirteen medals I have, got burnt. I don’t know if they got melted, but not even one could be found,” he told Metro FM.

“I kept some amount of money in my luggage and left it in the room, after arriving in Kumasi, which also got burnt.

“I was fortunate to have kept $2000 dollars in my small bag which was with me at the time the apartment was burning.

“I changed some of my winning bonuses into cedis to pay for my uncle’s car shipping duties at the port, which was GHC 5000 and this also saved some of the money from the fire.

“Apart from that, all my other belongings, such as TV, furniture, fridge, wardrobe, clothes, shoes and many more got burnt.”
