Jonathan Mensah will not play in the match in Portugal against Cape Verde

defender Jonathan Mensah has been ruled out of next week’s friendly against Cape Verde because of injury.

The France-based player was part of coach Kwesi Appiah’s 21-man squad for the game in Portugal on 13 November.

But he suffered a left thigh injury while playing for his club Evian in their league match against Lille on Saturday.

The 22-year-old underwent tests on Tuesday to determine the extent of injury he suffered even though he remained in camp with the club.

Doctors have now ruled him out of action for six weeks which means he will not be fit for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations warm-up.

It is not known whether coach Kwesi Appiah will hand another player the chance to impress in the match to be played at the University of Lisbon Stadium.

Why injury here, injury there.what is happening? Awal Mohammed can do the job.He plays regularly for Maritzburg but AA can invite Lee Addy if he is in shape for the match.

AA should better call the “general captain” to train with the squad till AFCON, he might be our savior. He was our highest goal scorer at 2012 AFCON.
