Injury complications could force Ghana defender Vorsah out of World Cup

Defender Isaac Vorsah remains a huge doubt for the 2014 FIFA World Cup finals after failing to win the fitness battle.

The Red Bull Salzburg centre-back is two months behind schedule in recovering fully from a torn anterior cruciate knee ligament in May.

The 25-year-old was scheduled to return to action after six months.

Last month, he was named in Salzburgā€™s winter training tour of Qatar but trained all alone.

If Vorsah fails to play games before the end of the season, Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah might overlook him in his 23-man squad for the tournament in Brazil.

His experience will be needed at the back after playing at the 2010 World Cup finals and last two Africa Cup of Nations finals.

In his absence, youngsters like Rashid Sumaila, Jonathan Mensah, Awal Mohammed and Jerry Akaminko have held the fort.

Rashid Sumaila, Jonathan Mensah, Awal Mohammed and Jerry Akaminko…

this is the defence against ronaldo and ozil???? we’re in trouble..

  2. Nana says:

spellBOUND, let me tell you Jonathan Mensah is capable of handling Ronaldo if there’s existence of team work especially at the back, just go watch how Israel handled him, besides Jonathan is a lot faster than Vorsah

my worry isn’t of the skill and capabilities of our defenders. it is simply of their youth and inexperience at the world cup level. skills are one thing, but nerves and a stage of that grandeur where everything is magnified is another matter.

  3. Nana says:

I will play Vorsah against Germany if he’s fit because of his height

Ainooson is better in the air.If Adusei can watch his bad tackles we can pair those two and they will excel
