Incumbency Abuse Unavoidable ? GCPP Chairman

The Acting National Chairman of the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP), Dr. Henry Lartey is advocating support in terms of Finance and other logistics by the nation for what he describes as small political parties in the country to make them more effective.

Speaking to Peace FM in an interview, Dr. Henry Lartey said it is unfair to require these small political parties to win seats in parliament before they qualify for assistance from the nation. He said many people in the country share the ideologies of the small parties but lack of resources make them (small parties) ineffective.

Commenting on incumbency abuse in elections by a political party in government, Dr. Henry Lartey said it will be difficult for a ruling party to completely avoid such abuse because a ruling party is naturally placed at some political advantage.
