Ghana defender John Boye will miss Sunday's final of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations if the Black Stars qualify.

Ghana defender John Boye will miss Saturday’s third-place playoff of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations when the Black Stars clash with Mali.

The four-time champions were beaten 1-0 by Zambia in the semi-final of the competition in Bata on Wednesday.

Boye got his second successive yellow card of the competition during the match for a high tackle on an opponent.

This means he will be suspended for one match, ruling him out of the match against Mali.

Boye absence is a big blow for the Black Stars as he has been one of Ghana’s pivotal players in this year’s competition, having won the man-of-the-match award in their opening game against Botswana.

He is likely to be replaced by Isaac Vorsah in Ghana’s next game.

I like John Boye but he is very temperamental…unnecessary tackles..arguing with referees if he cuts that out of his game….he will be a top class defender…he just need to cut that…in Europe, that silly tackle could have earn him a red card putting his team in trouble…then again he misses the final if we win.he should stop.

  2. We play ugly football and win games. Ghanaians criticise the coach n the players and now that we play beautiful soccer, we lose. Gyan’s exit was not a good idea. Please don’t insult tagoe b’cos the coach put him in.

    • aberico says:

Excellent comment mike. Ghanaian said the like beautiful football than wining a game, and so they have got what they want. No Ghanaian should point hands on anybody. Those who were criticising a winning team should bow their heads in shame.

      • Itus says:

so no one should criticise a poorly struck spot kick?? eeei. masa. you’re in a semi final. you get the golden opportunity n flunk it n u xpect people not to do a bit of tongue lashing. come again sir

        • JERRO,GREECE says:

Rawlings have a told Gyan before that he needs to go back and hit the ball as if his life dependeded on it. yet he broke our hearts again with his silly kick. I know Jerry will surely ‘slap’ his head off the next time they meet. What kind of arrogance and complacency is this?

  3. Hafsa says:

Those who wanted GHANA to play BEAUTFUL FOOTBALL and the inclution of Derick, they have gotten. All the same we thank Allah for taking as this far.

  4. Belle Epoque says:

i dont know why nobody is seeing the coach’s inedequacy.

  5. Sam says:

Now what, its over, i was shaking my head when they took gyan out, Man what a stupid coach.

  6. Zizzle says:

Man….I’m so heartbroken….what the f**k? Gyan should never be invited to the black stars ever again…he chokes when it comes to important stages….the coach should have taken him out rite after he missed the pk

  7. Bra Kwame says:

You guys are not serious. You still have this on your site…

  8. quame says:

look its about time gyan gives his life to GOD….

  9. Sam says:

U call that a beautiful ball, a game that has no intensity in it is beautiful,It only became intense in 2 minits to the end.

  10. Kwarasey shud hv no himself beter b4 planning 4 de blak stars 4 now he is not ready full of disapointmnt, he mst be drop 4 the next game.

  11. Hafsa says:

Oh Allah what is goIng on? is this A.Gyans DESTNY.Has been created to be taking Ghanians through all these ARGONY?I realy feel for this guy what will be going on in his mind rite now?I would never ever want to be in his SHOES.

  12. keith from germany says:

leave kwarasey alone.there is nothing he can do.he has improved his goal.
today even the euro sport commentator said this was our best game of the tournament but welost to a lucky zambia side.
let see wats 2013 has got for us.i would love to see mali or zambia winning rather than ivory coast.
    better luck next time.

  13. Aberb says:

Kwarasey did nothing 2 b blamed. Y cant u blame gyan?Do u xpect de coach 2 ve played de penalty 4 ghana 2 win? fools!!!

  14. Mr. Zigor from Ghana-Accra says:

Hi keith, am so dissapointed in you why b’cos u seems to support kwarasay. Let me tell u something the keeper does not deserved to keep for Ghana anymore? aaah what a bomb keeper that he doesn’t no how to keep a smiple ball, pls the leaders must do something about that or else hahahahaha we gonna lose all our matches.I think he should be sack forever, even keeper olele is far better, so Keith pls rather say the right thing and the right will be said to kwarasay. THANKS!!

  15. st harlem says:

time and time again the black stars have been considered favourites only to bow out in shame. how can we allow prejudice to rule our minds & hearts, when it comes to the critisization of tagoe & kwarasey we are quick to lash out our tongues at them & pretenciously close our eyes to the main characters that orchestrated our demise @ the tourney. for gyan it was evident for all to see so i wont talk about it. but when we refuse to castigate the misplaced crosses but inkoom and his misjudgement during open play it saddens my heart. we even forget he was a remote cause of the zambian goal. if tagoe qualified us to the tournament in the first place i think he should be commended & we should be just a little easy on him so as to help him get confident and augment gyan if not compete with him.

  16. Ratiou says:

everyone is talking about Gyan’s miss.Fine it was a poor kick from him.Kwarasey can’t be blamed for the goal. The main problem was from our right back.Inkoom had a poor game today and should have been replaced by opare in the second half instead of replacing tagoe for gyan.Jordan was my man of the match and inkoom my flop of the match.

  17. Sam says:

@ Keith,Masa, please for get, the cup belongs to ivory coast, they have quality and better players.

  18. Fabs says:

The difference is a lack of concentration in this team….let’s not be quick to dimiss the players but the team needs to be more focused. Under Rajovic the team could be 1-0 up or 0-0 and you knew that there would be very few silly mistakes as was the case with Inkoom. Look, let’s calm down and understand that this team is a work in progress but if the correct players are invited to augment players like the Ayew brothers, Boye, Badu, Annan and Vorsah this team will be a very strong team.We also need to choose our strikers based on merit irrespective if they are local or young….we always lack clinical strikers.

  19. DIASPORAN GHANAIANS says:

We need to infuse some of our local players into the team!Zambia has proved that locally-based players are also capable! Why always sidelining them?Such players could have intrinsic motivation in their quest to catch the eyes of scouts! We shd also notr that Asamoah Gyan have been worn out over the years as a lone striker! This will make him fade out sooner than later!
