Veteran trainer Emmanuel Kwesi Afranie says it will be unrealistic to task would-be Ghana coach Avram Grant to win the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Ghana Football Association is poised to announce the Israeli Grant on Thursday as replacement for departed Kwesi Appiah.

If confirmed, the former Chelsea manager will have less than a month to work with his squad for the tournament in Equatorial Guinea next January.

“Winning the AFCON is not going to be possible because he does not know much about our team,” Afranie said.

“To win a cup of nations you need to know every detail about each player you have and he doesn’t know that.

“May be it will take time but looking at the time we have now the AFCON it’s not going to be possible.

“Not that he is not a good coach but with the timing is not going to be able to do much.”

Grant has considerable experience after leading the Israeli national team for four years before English Premier League stints with West Ham and Portsmouth.
