IK Start manager Mons Ivar Mjelde had admitted Ghanaian winger Ernest Asante handed his side a good chance to record victory over Stromsgodset but they ended up losing 4-2 on the opening day of the Norwegian season.

Asante shot the visitors ahead in the 10th minute after capitalising on a goalkeeping howler by Adam Kwarasey and put them back into the lead in the 27th minute after the host had pulled even at the Marienlyst Stadion.

But Start tasted defeat at the end of regulation time despite a bright start to the game at Drammen.

"We assessed the strengths and weaknesses of Stromsgodset before the game and we started very well. Asante scored twice in the first-half but when they returned from the break, they played strongly and we could not play as we started," he said.

Asante's opening day double has lifted him to the top of the goal scoring chart.
