I don't yet have an automatic place in the Black Stars - Majeed Waris

Striker Abdul Majeed Waris doesn’t feel he has done enough to win a place in Ghana’s squad for the 2014 World Cup despite helping the side with his goals during the qualifiers.

The 22-year-old has hit an efficient partnership with lead striker Asamoah Gyan in the Black Stars that produced a total of eight goals during the qualifiers.

Waris has not looked back since scoring his debut Ghana goal in the 4-0 rout of Sudan in March.

Many believe the Gyan-Waris striking partnership is the best fit for Ghana going into next year’s World Cup in Brazil with Egypt coach Bob Bradley one of the lead victims of the devastating attacking partnership.

But the Right to Dream Academy graduate believes he is not home and dry yet in getting an automatic entry into the squad for the tournament.

“I don’t think the goals I have scored has got anything to do with the World Cup and the current squad going to the World Cup or something like that,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“I just have to keep working really hard and keep my head up and then hopefully by the time the squad is out I will be on my top form and then be part of the squad.”

Waris is competing with other good Ghanaian strikers for limited spots for the World Cup where the Black Stars will be facing Germany, Portugal and USA in Group G.
