Ghana defender Samuel Inkoom has been explaining his decision to join French Ligue 1 side SC Bastia despite receiving offers from some stellar European clubs.

The right-back has moved on six-month loan deal from Ukrainian top flight side FC Dnipro where he fell out with head coach Juande Ramos.

The former FC Basle player says he sought advice from Michael Essien-who played for Les Bleus between 2000 and 2003-before agreeing to join them.

Inkoom also implied that he took a pay cut to join his new club after he was convinced by head coach Frederic Hantz.

He has held two training sessions with the team ahead of this weekend’s match against Paris-Saint Germain.
