Ex Ghana captain Stephen Appiah believes he still has what it take to succeed in modern day soccer.

The 31-year-old has been without a club since deciding against extending his short-term contract with Serbian club FK Vojvodina at the end of the last season.

Appiah who retired from international football after the 2010 World Cup is currently in the hunt for a new club after a last minute hitch to a move Iranian club Perspolis.

And contrary to beliefs age has caught up with the former Juventus and Fernerbahce man, Appiah insists he can still mix it up and excel in the midst of youthful and energetuic players.

“If you put me in the 25 players, trust me I will be the best,” he said.

“Football is not about running but the experience. They will run more than me for 90 minutes but I will be the best.

“Andrea Pirlo didn’t run throughout the 90 minutes at the Euro but he was the best player.”
