Honduras claim Ghana friendly

World Cup finalists Honduras say they are close to reaching an agreement to play Ghana in an international friendly on 03 March in South Africa, according to a Honduran publication Diez.

The match is expected to open the newly-built 46,000 seater capacity Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.

Ghana will be camping in Nelspruit for the tournament and will be venue for Honduras' Group H opener against Chile on 16 June.

Honduras coach Reinaldo Rueda says next month's friendly will help his side to prelimainary acclimatize to the conditions before the tournament kick-starts.

The Central American side have vowed to field a strong squad that will be led by striker David Suazo of Genoa, Tottenham's Wilson Palacios and Wigan duo Maynor Figueroa and Hendry Thomas.

Ghana are expected to field core of the team that finished runners-up at the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations in Angola.
