Ghana defender John Paintsil has failed to secure a deal with Polokwane City over his high financial demands even though talks are still ongoing.
The 32-year-old is reported to have demanded over $40,000 as signing-on fee plus an exorbitant salary.
The ‘huge’ demands appear to be putting Polokwane City off despite their continued interest in the Ghana international.
“We couldn’t come to an agreement, but the negotiations will continue today,” City’s spokesman Patrick Baloyi said.
The former Fulham defender has been in talks with the South Africa top flight club since last week as he looks to land a permanent deal.
Paintsil is a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Israeli club Hapoel Tel Aviv at the end of the last European season.
The right-back underwent trials in the summer with lower tier English club Millwall but he was not offered a deal.
He trained with Santos when he first arrived in South Africa early last week before opening talks with City.
