Asante Kotoko winger Michael Helegbe says it is important for the Porcupine Warriors to maintain their impressive cutting edge in the CAF Champions League.
The two time CAF Champions League title winners play guest to Algerian side JSM Béjaïa at Stade de l’Unité Maghrébine in a first-leg tie.
The Porcupine Warriors progressed through to the first round of the competition after whitewashing Equatorialguinean side Sony de Ela Nguema 8-0 on aggregate.
And, Helegbe, the former Ghana U23 captain who joined Kotoko from Liberty Professionals says his side must produce healthy results against the Algerians.
“We had a very good first appearance against Nguema with the 8-0 triumph and that is work-in-progress so we have to keep up the form and follow up with a similar performance and that must start from Friday,” he told Ghanasoccernet.com.
Kotoko want to rebuild their tattered reputation in Africa after failing to appear in the competition for the past four seasons.
Ahead of their trip to Algerian, Kotoko extended their continental scoring run to the MTN FA Cup when they hammered lower-tier side Japekrom FC 5-0 on Thursday.
Prior to that emphatic win, Mas-Ud Didi Dramani’s side made noise about their deadly strike-force when they fought to draw 3-3 with Liberty Professionals in their Ghanaian Premier League second round opener.
This reporter must be sick in the head. tattered reputation? noise about strike force? Who is forcing you to write about Kotoko? If you have nothing sensible to say, leave the Fabulous Club alone. Idiot.
Jsm will beat kotoko coming dis friday.
